※Please remind it is not available to update the firmware of H/E series controller via AR-727CM converter, it is required to update through AR-321CM converter or TCPIP of the controller directly. It is only available to update the firmware of AR-727CM while using its IP Address.
1. The table of update tools and the link of manuals
Please confirm all options and operation steps in the manual while doing firmware update in the first time, the manual has full steps you required for device connection, also included the device model.
*Hint: After downloading the firmware in SOYAL official website, the filename will hint you the update tool it required.
- Filename .ISP means the update tool is ISP Tool, ex. The firmware of AR-721H: 721HD_7V3 211103.ISP
- Filename .STM means the update tool is UDP Updater, ex. The firmware of AR-837E: APS837E_V0404_221114.STM

ISP Tool Product Model
The No.1 is suitable for below devices either EM Frequency or Mifare Frequency

UDP Updater Product Model
2. Update Tools Download
The installation package has all SOYAL device tools, including ISP Tool, UDP Updater two update programs and connection detection tool – Commview.
3. Firmware Download
Download the firmware you required, including standard firmware and specific firmware, here we use AR-837E as example,
Step1. Enter SOYAL official website, select “Product”
Step2. Select “Controller / Reader”
Step3. Select the controller model
Step4. Select “Download”
Step5. Download the firmware to assigned path

TCP/IP Controller / Product:
The product equipped with TCP/IP could confirm online status in each browser, the up right corner will display the firmware version and date after entering the website.
The website will display no respond when connection failed.
RS-485 Controller / Product:
Step1. Search Commview (inside the installation package already)
Step2. Input controller Node ID and select communication port
Step3. Press “Get Message”, the dialogue will reply normally while product online and reply “Timeout!” while product offline.
5. Firmware Update
Open firmware update tool after online status is confirmed.
(1) ISP Tool
Step1. Select product model
Step2. Select Communication Port
Step3. Press “Load F/W” and select the file
Step4. The blue frame will display firmware information
Step5. Press “Upgrade Target” to start download
Step6. After the progress bar fully completed and the dialogue shown “Program Completed!” means the update has done.
(2)UDP Updater
Step1. Select product model
Step2. Select the connection function, it is recommended to update more efficiently via selecting Ethernet function when your device has TCP/IP model.
(1) Ethernet: Input the IP Address and Node ID of controller, Port is fixed to 1604.
(2) RS-485: Input controller node and select COM port.
Step3. Press “Load F/W” and select the firmware file
Step4. The information of firmware will be shown in blue frame field
Step5. Press “Update F/W” to start download
Step6. After the dialogue has shown “Firmware Update is Completed!” means the update has done.
6. Reset the controller after firmware updating
Full firmware updating is required to reset the controller via pressing RESET button on the control panel, and the parameter setting of controller will be reset (not including card data). Therefore, it is recommended to record the setting firstly, preventing from data losing.
Q: Is it required to reset my controller via pressing RESET button after firmware updating?
A: Not really, if the updating is due to card presentation abnormal or parameter setting failed, then you may test the relevant function directly after updating. While the firmware has crossed from 3.6 to 4.4 and/or requiring to use new functions (e.g. E series controller support disabling the beeper after v4.4), then pressing RESET button is definitely required.
